Shri Mukund Bhavan Trust and ISCKON Annamrita provide the meal
Pune - Considering the plight of people who might be struggling to eke out a living during the current situation, Shri Mukund Bhavan Trust run by the family of Purushottam Lohia and Aditya Lohia along with ISCKON Annamrita Foundation is providing meals to about 10,000 destitute citizens in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad every day. This scheme undertaken by the organizations will continue till the end of the lockdown period.
Sanjay Bhosale, President of ISKCON Annamrita Foundation and Dr. Janardan Chitode are supervising the project, while Kishore Chavan, Tushar Kulkarni, Sharad Sarda Yudhisthir Bandhu, Prabhu and Vishwanath Kripa Prabhu have been managing the distribution of food.
As the lockdown is affecting the lives of labourers and other needy citizens, both the organizations have started the initiative with an objective to minimize their dilemma and provide them with essential meals. Under the scheme, help is being provided to slum dwellers, disabled and lepers in various parts of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.
For this, the food is being prepared in the spacious kitchen of Shri Radha Vrindavan Chandra Mandir on the Katraj-Kondhwa road in the premises of ISKCON temple. The meal consists of vegetarian biryani pulao and khichdi (400 g each) in which red pumpkin, potatoes, carrots, soya beans and cereals are used.
Activists of various organizations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Janseva Foundation and Maheshwari Samaj Shriram Temple, Raviwar Peth with many police personnel are also involved in the distribution of free meals for the needy in different parts of the city.
